From The Minot Daily News web site:
The Friends of Jennifer Keesey Fund Scholarship was introduced Wednesday at the Minot Public Schools administration building.
The scholarship, established with the Minot Public School Foundation, raised over $7,500 for deserving boys or girls tennis players to annually improve their games through camps and lessons.
Keesey, a 1991 graduate of Minot High School, was a standout tennis player for the Majettes. Keesey was a part of two state championship teams at MHS, in 1988 and 1991.
Keesey, who lived in Minneapolis, was killed in a car accident in Florida on April 5, 2007.
“I was fortunate enough to have Jenny on the 1988 and 1991 state championship teams,” former MHS head coach Jerry Lyon said. “Her skills were evident, but even moreso, was how she was an ambassador for Minot and the Minot High School tennis team,”
The first recipient of the scholarship was Minot High School freshman Halie Hall.
“I was very honored to receive the money (from the scholarship),” Hall said. “I used it to improve my game.”
Keesey’s parents, Phillip and Beverley, were on hand Wednesday to present the check to Nancy Langseth of the Minot Public School Foundation Board of Directors.
